    Almost Spring!

We are excited about this new event! Join us on Sunday, March 3 from 3-5 pm at the Danish American Center for 'NAAM's Proeverij!' Sampling, tasting and good company!

Marieke Gouda (Thorp, WI) will be presenting a variety of their Gouda cheeses that you can try (and buy if you like them!). Belle Vinez Winery (River Falls, WI)is present with several wines for you to taste. Master baker Colin will prepare freshly made stroopwafels. Also available are Dutch products from Van der Veen to try like haring and saucijzenbroodjes.  And last but not least, our president Rob will be making several 'amuses' based on Dutch recipes.

Besides tasting and sampling, there is of course time to socialize with other members and to take part in our Trivia quiz, so brush up your knowledge of the Netherlands! We hope you will all join us and also help us celebrating the birthday of our oldest member, Johan Hart, who will turn 99 on March 3!

Please register for this event to help us plan accordingly. This event is free for members, non-members pay $5 for adults and $2 for children ages 4 and up.

    King's Day

We are celebrating King's Day on Saturday, April 27 from 2-5 pm at the Danish American Center in Minneapolis. Join us for some 'orange craziness'!

More details will be released soon. Make sure to save the date as you do not want to miss this event!

In 2013, Willem-Alexander became the first King of the Netherlands in 123 years. Consequently, from 2014  onward the name has been changed from Queen's Day to King's Day. Queen's Day was always celebrated on April 30th, the birthday of his grandmother prinses Juliana. King's  Day is celebrated on April 27, which is the birthday of  Willem-Alexander.

King's Day is the biggest national event in Holland. Everything and everyone turns orange and celebrates on King's Day. You will find music shows, fairs, flea markets and parties throughout the country.

It is also an opportunity for "orange madness" or oranjegekte, for the national color, when the normally strait-laced Dutch let down their hair, often dyed orange for the occasion (

This event is free for NAAM members. Non-members pay a fee of $8 for adults and $4 for children age 4 and up.

    Festival of Nations

The Festival of Nations is the largest and longest running multicultural festival in Minnesota, celebrating cultural diversity with food, music, demonstrations, exhibits and dance.

At the Festival of Nations we are able to renew a sense of pride in our respective ethnic heritages. At the same time we have the opportunity to develop an appreciation, rather then just a tolerance of the culture of others as we build for the future together.

The Festival of Nations will take place from May 2- May 5 2019, in the St Paul River Centre, 175 W. Kellogg Blvd, St Paul, MN 55102. The Dutch Club will be present with an exhibit and of course with the cafe, where people can enjoy some traditional Dutch "lekkernijen".

We are not able to do the Festival of Nations without volunteers. Please consider helping us out during one or more shifts in the cafe and/or exhibit. And after your shift you have all the time to explore the rest of the festival!

A link to our sign up sheet will be posted soon.
