    King's Day Celebration

In 2013, Willem-Alexander became the first King of the  Netherlands in 123 years. Consequently, from 2014  onward the name has been changed from Queen's Day to  King's Day. Queen's Day was always celebrated on April  30th (birthday of his grandmother prinses Juliana), King's  Day is celebrated on April 27, which is the birthday of  Willem-Alexander.

NAAM is celebrating King’s day this year on Sunday, April 29 from 2pm to 5pm at the Danish American Center. Come and join us for some ‘’orange craziness’’!

Wear your orange, join us at our Dutch 'Pannekoeken' buffet, bring stuff to sell and/or shop at our 'Koningsmarkt' (Dutch flea market), have an 'Oranjebitter' toast and catch up with other members of NAAM!

We have food, wine, dutch beer, dutch music, socializing and activities for the kids! The event is free for members but bring some cash if you would like to shop at the flea market. For the best dressed people we will have prizes to win! Non-Members are Welcome too!!! No need to be a ‘Dutchie'!

King's Day is the biggest national event in Holland. Everything and everyone turns orange and celebrates on King's Day. You will find music shows, fairs, flea markets and parties throughout the country.

It is also an opportunity for "orange madness" or oranjegekte, for the national color, when the normally strait-laced Dutch let down their hair, often dyed orange for the occasion (Holland.com/Wikipedia)

This event is free for NAAM members. Non-members pay a fee of $8 for adults and $4 for children age 4 and up.

    Festival of Nations

The Festival of Nations is the largest and longest running multicultural festival in Minnesota, celebrating cultural diversity with food, music, demonstrations, exhibits and dance.

At the Festival of Nations we are able to renew a sense of pride in our respective ethnic heritages. At the same time we have the opportunity to develop an appreciation, rather then just a tolerance of the culture of others as we build for the future together.

The Festival of Nations will take place from May 3- May 6 2018, in the St Paul River Centre, 175 W. Kellogg Blvd, St Paul, MN 55102. The Dutch Club will be present with an exhibit and of course with the cafe, where people can enjoy some traditional Dutch "lekkernijen".

We are not able to do the Festival of Nations without volunteers. Please consider helping us out during one or more shifts in the cafe and/or exhibit. And after your shift you have all the time to explore the rest of the festival!

Please use this link to sign up for the day and shift or your interest.
